I subscribe to a monthly vegan beauty box and last month I received this nail polish from NCLA Los Angeles. All of their nail products are 5 free….meaning they do not contain DBP, toluene, formaldehyde, and camphor. They do not test on animals.
This is my first time using NCLA color and I was very excited to try it out. The color is described on the NCLA website as a light mint cream; in the online picture it looks like a mint cream. In person, the color is more medium mint leaning towards tiffany blue. It is not light mint.
Santa Monica Shore Thing is a creme formula. It takes 2 coats in order to get an even application. I applied a thin first coat and kinda got upset at how streaky it looked. I waited 5 minutes and applied a really thick second coat. I waited another 5 minutes and applied a top coat. Even though I applied a thick second coat, I found that the polish dried quickly….. this made me very happy 🙂 The brush is nice and thick and covered my entire nail in 1 swipe.
NCLA nail polish costs $16. If you join their mailing list they will give you 15% off your first order. I will be shopping with NCLA!! They also have cool nail wraps online. I’m gonna check those out too.

So I love the look of the Chanel Fall line, but so far I’ve only purchased the Atmosphere Nail Polish. It’s very pretty. It’s an interesting iridescent pink with a gray undertone to it. Here are some swatches. Enjoy 🙂

Estee Lauder recently released a mini collection called Crystal Baby. I saw the collection on a beauty blogger’s page and was super excited because everything was pink! I looked for the collection everywhere, then realized that it was only released in Asia. Luckily, Nordstrom has the collection online. I picked up the Crystal Baby Lip Gloss and Crystal Baby Nail Lacquer.
I really like the Crystal Baby Pure Color Gloss. It is very much like all of the Estee Lauder Lip Glosses. It has the same scent and tackiness. I found that the color lasts for about 4 hours. It is very pretty, but like most light colors, I notice that the color tends to settle into my lip lines. It does look super pretty on top of a light lipstick.
This is lip gloss only.
I have to admit that although I like the Crystal Baby Nail Lacquer, it is not my favorite. I applied two coats and the polish went on very smoothly. This is the same great quality as with all Estee Lauder nail colors. My manicure lasted for about 5 days before chipping.
The polish looks nude in the bottle and nude on my nails in these pictures, but in indoor lighting the color pulled more peach on me. I have no clue why I didn’t like this polish!? I think it just didn’t mesh with my skin tone.
Did you pick up anything from the collection? I kinda wish I would have tried the blush….

I was browsing (read: shopping) on Julep’s web page tonight and saw one of my favorite peach/pinkie/nude nail polishes, Lynn, on sale for $2.99! Lynn is one of those great shades that I can only describe as nude blush pearl. It’s a neutral that’s livened up with that frosty pearl sheen. It’s not boring like a basic nude, but it’s safe enough for a job interview.
So, I apologize because these are old pictures. I have this habit of taking pictures of manicures and makeup just to admire the colors later. (Is this weird? Do other people do this too? If I look through your cell phone pics will you also have nothing but makeup shots?)
But I digress…..
Some time ago, I was a Julep Maven member. I suspect that I received this color as part of one of the monthly boxes. I say suspect because I did a lot of Julep shopping when I was a member. I enjoyed being a Julep Maven member, but I honestly couldn’t keep up with all of the new nail polish colors! I guess I just don’t change my polish enough to justify 4 new colors a month. I do recommend that y’all give it a try for a few months….it will help you increase your polish collection 😉 The great thing about membership is that you can skip a month or choose a different themed box. They also send great coupons and freebies.
Anyway, Lynn is a great color! I think it reads more spring than summer but how can one resist that great sale price?!

I recently discovered Glitter Daze, an artisanal nail polish line based in Dallas, Texas. All of their polishes are hand-blended and 5-free; meaning their formulas do not contain: toluene, formaldehyde, dibutyl phthalate (DBP), formaldehyde resin, or animal testing. I like that you will always receive a fresh bottle of polish because they are poured to order!
I decided to try the limited edition set called Birthday Duo. I started with Terrific Twos…the perfect bubble gum pink color. The swatch below is 3 coats.
I never ever use glitter coats with designs or big chunks in them, but the idea of pink topped with white, pink, and golden glitter bits was too appealing for me to pass up. This one is called Birthday Bow-nanza. Can you see the little white bow in the swatch below? It’s so cute. I especially love how the pink glitter pieces look on top of the pink polish.
Overall, I enjoyed this manicure. It lasted about 5 days before chipping. I did notice that my little bow glitter piece became snagged on my jeans and popped off the first day. I think this can be avoided if you use an orange stick or a tooth pick to push the big glitter pieces down until they dry into the base polish a bit. My issue was that the pink polish stained my nails. Next time I will use a different base coat. I also used CND Stickey Base Coat and Julep Fast Dry Topcoat.
The Glitter Daze website also has swatches of all polishes! Check them out and let me know what you think.
